GEARING UP TO CELEBRATE 2nd NATIONAL MINICOY FEST -2013

Minicoy- Dec 26:- The 2^nd National Minicoy Fest-2013 will be celebrated at Minicoy on 28^th and 29^th December 2013 with an aim to promote tourism focusing the unique culture and tradition of Maliku-Minicoy. With an attractive Boat race competition namely Prime Minister’s Rolling Trophy Boat Race, Marathon and Jala Mela since 2010.

A special package for tourists in connection with the National Fest also been finalized. M.V.Lakshadweep Sea is scheduled for the package sailing on 27^th December to reach Minicoy on next day break 28^th December 2013. The exclusive voyage of the ship for tourist will be halted at Minicoy and return back on 29^th evening from Minicoy to reach next port Kalpeni.

As part of the celebration PM’s Rolling Trophy Jahadhoni (Prize money 1^st Prize Rs. 2 Lakh 2^nd Prize Rs. 1 Lakh 3^rd Prize Rs.50000/ fifty thousand and every participants will get 10000/- Ten thousand each as consolation prize) Bodu Dhoni 1^st Prize Rs.30000/- Thirty Thousand, 2^nd Prize Rs. 20000/- Twenty Thousand 3^rd Prize 10000/- ten thousand, every participants will get Rs.5000/ five thousand each as consolation prize, and other small country boat race- 1^st Prize Rs.25000/Twenty five thousand, 2^nd Prize Rs.15000/ Fifteen thousand, 3^rd prize Rs.10000/- Ten thousand and consolation prize Rs. 3000/- each participants, Jala Mela (Aquatic Show), Aahar Fest, Exhibition-( Handicrafts, Agriculture and other items) , Inter Island Tug of War 1^st Prize Rs.60000/-Sixty thousand , 2^nd Prize 40000/- forty thousand and 3^rd Prize Rs. 20000/- Twenty thousand, all participating teams will get Rs.10000/- ten thousand each , Cultural events, Swimming competition and UT level Mini Marathon 12 Km (men & Women Separately) will be conducted , 1^st Prize Rs.1 Lakh, 2^nd Prize Rs. 50000/ fifty thousand, 3rdPrize Rs. 25000/- Twenty five thousand (for men), 4^th,5^th , and 6^th positions Rs.10000/ ten thousand each 7^th 8^th, 9^th, and 10^th positions Rs.5000/- five thousand each. Marathon women 6 Km . All the events except boat race and Jala mela will be conducted at Mini Stadium Ground. The date fixed for Marathon is 29^th December 2012 at 7 AM. Swimming Competition 1. 100 Meters Free Style (open to all), 2. 50 meters free style (open to all), 1^st Prize Rs.10000/-ten thousand, 2^nd prize Rs.5000/-five thousand and 3^rd prize Rs.3000/-three thousand, consultation prizes up 5^th position Rs.1000/- one thousand. Therefore all interested participants are requested to keep themselves ready for the events, informs DC Minicoy. Total 16 SHGs are taking part in Aaharfest both from Minicoy and other Islands.
